Max and Discovery+ Join Charter Bundle in Warner Bros. Strategic Deal

T he companies Warner Bros. Discovery and Charter Communications have jointly announced that today they enter into a significant multi-year early renewal agreement; this will add a tier of Max, featuring HBO content and Discovery+, without any added cost to customers, to all Spectrum TV Select packages.

Still, that's not the only record-breaking achievement Eilish boasts. She joins a very exclusive club of just three artists who ever had surpassed 100 million monthly listeners on Spotify throughout their career, with Taylor Swift and The Weeknd as its other members, who set the record. Now, Eilish is, at 22 years old, the youngest artist ever to have done it, putting her into another fact in an already remarkable record for one of the most influential and successful musicians of her generation.

Apparently faithful to himself though, The Weeknd, who for years dominated charts and for years was Spotify's most-streamed artist, could not come up with any praise or love for Eilish. Earlier this month, as she was closing in on his mark, The Weeknd posted a message that appeared on the Eilish fan account on X (formerly Twitter): "Billie Eilish is now less than 1 million listeners away from becoming the #1 artist with the most monthly listeners on Spotify." Along with reposting, he added, "Let's go!

It was a celebratory gesture, so it embodies the camaraderie between two of the biggest names in the music industry today. Other than this success, one thing that would define Eilish's meteoric rise to popularity and fame would be the muchawaited third studio album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, scheduled for release in April 2024. With 10 tracks, it marked a watershed moment in Eilish's career as both an artist and a teller of stories.

She starts at no. 2 on the Billboard 200. For a third time, she also demonstrates to people how she is going to stand at the par level of an industry that turns fast and there is no respite to resist competition.

Hit Me Hard and Soft set Eilish as more connected with the listeners: vulnerable, resilient, and introspective. Haunting melodies, hypnotic beats, and atmospheric production work to lock listeners. Every track has a completely different note about what's going on in the head of Eilish. Along with breaking that record for record-breaking feats regarding her last album, there are several rules being broken at Spotify by Eilish. She boasts an incredible eight songs that have streamed their way into the platform's Billions Club, meaning songs that reach one billion streams or more by June 2024. That simply means Eilish's music is unbounded as it defies genre rules and stretches across all different ages.

Here are just some examples of such songs: "Lovely" featuring Khalid, "Bad Guy," "When the Party's Over," "Everything I Wanted," "Ocean Eyes," "Happier Than Ever," "Idontwannabeyouanymore," and "Bury a Friend." Every one of these songs has a peculiarity of sound that Eilish embodies and also wants to show the story, which brings her to become so exceptional in the music world on any continent. The song that best exemplifies her playful-yet-rebellious approach to pop is "Bad Guy," which leaped to the very top of the chart seemingly out of nowhere. Another prime example is "When the Party's Over," which proves she can nudge deep emotion, even through what might be considered hauntingly minimal arrangements.

"Lovely," her duet with Khalid, was an anthem among millions of listeners singing along with both artists to an inspired and emotional ballad about striving through personal struggles. In many ways, Eilish's rise to become the most streamed artist on Spotify speaks as much to the fierce devotion of her fans as it does to her genius-level talent. Right from the start, Billie Eilish has fostered a fervent following of artists growing up along with her, for truth and authenticity run so deep in her record.

Not once do you find any doubts that Eilish's star power is far from dimming with her continued quest for breaking new ground and depositories of record-breaking popularity. And in an age obsessed with music streaming, connecting to one hundred million monthly listeners on a platform as expansive as Spotify is a lonely and historic feat. It is just another page in already very impossibly legendary careers-one in which a teenage wonder turned out to be the full-fledged global superstar.

That is the case for Billie Eilish, whose journey has just started. However, what she does in the future is guaranteed to set waves and attract world-wide attention as she continues to redefine the very edges of modern music and inspire subsequent generations of artists. Strongly emotive words, pure candidness of this youth talent, an icon in the music world, as well as a voice of a generation, and easily breach the barriers of genres: This 100 million views break is something Billie Eilish has just overtaken, and with this, it can be considered that Billie Eilish is not leaving anywhere, and her influence on the music world is going to stay here for a pretty long time.
