M egan Thee Stallion brought a mic, a glow stick, and her quintessential swagger to the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, hosting the evening with high energy. The 29-year-old rapper started things off appropriately-sporting a one-shoulder leotard that looked like something an Olympic gymnast might be stepping into. However, Megan saved her best for last because she gave a shout-out to fellow Houstonian and gold medalist Simone Biles. Playfully saying that Biles let her borrow the outfit, she quipped, "I deserve a gold medal in being a bad b****," which set up an unforgettable evening.

Indeed, when celebrating the historic 40th VMAs, Megan had shown recognition to one of the most celebrated scenes of VMA history. She emerged onto the stage wearing a real snake slung over her shoulders as some form of revenge against Britney Spears' classic performance of 2001. Wearing a version of the Spears outfit, Megan didn't hang around with the snake for too long, and within minutes, she started saying she wanted it taken off. "I'm just kidding. Come get this snake," she quipped, laughing as her handlers quickly led the animal away from her. "I tried to hold it down for Britney," she said with a grin.

Besides hosting, Megan also got the crowd revved up with a power-packed medley of her hits "BOA," "B.A.S," and "Hiss." She sang her latest single "Mamushi" off her album Megan, squeezing in time to introduce special guest Japanese rapper Yuki Chiba for an electrifying collaboration. Venturing mid-way into her song, Megan introduced Yuki to the audience with a trendy exclamation, "All the way from Japan for the first time, Yuki!

Among the many standouts of Megan's night were several changes of costume, one paying homage to her role in the just-run Gladiator-themed Pepsi ad campaign. Dressed to the T in gladiator armor as seen during that commercial -- showcasing NFL stars Josh Allen, Derrick Henry, and Justin Jefferson -- Megan strode onto the stage with the very epic feel that one gets in watching the commercial itself. The advertisement reads like an incarnate come again of this Pepsi classic 2004 Super Bowl commercial, Roman Empire, featuring Beyoncé, Britney Spears, and Pink.

From leotard to gladiator getup, Megan Thee Stallion proves that she is not only a force on the performance podium but also a game host.
